Binnu Dhillon congratulates Dr Navdeep Kaur on receiving the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for Theatre Direction from President Droupadi Murmu.

Punjabi actor Binnu Dhillon recently celebrated a proud achievement by Dr Navdeep Kaur, a former student of the Department of Theatre and Television at Punjabi University, Patiala. Sharing the news on Instagram, Binnu congratulated her on receiving the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in the Theatre Direction category. Binnu Dhillon, who is also an alumnus of Punjabi University’s Department of Theatre and Television, expressed his pride in Dr Navdeep Kaur’s achievement as a former student of the same department.

Dr Navdeep Kaur currently serves as the Head of the Department of Indian Theatre at Panjab University, Chandigarh. She received the honour from President Droupadi Murmu on August 13.

Historic Achievement For The Region

In his post, Binnu highlighted the significance of Dr Navdeep Kaur’s achievement. He said that after 23 years, a woman theatre director from the region covering Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh has received this prestigious honour.

He also mentioned that the region has received recognition in the Theatre Direction category after 16 years, making the achievement even more special.

Binnu described Dr Navdeep Kaur’s award as a matter of immense pride for Punjabi University, Patiala, Panjab University, Chandigarh, and the entire Punjab.

He extended his heartfelt congratulations to both universities and the people of Punjab. His post also reflects his personal connection with the achievement, as he himself studied at Punjabi University’s Department of Theatre and Television.
