Who Was Jaswant Singh Khalra?Jaswant Singh Khalra was born in 1952 and lived in Amritsar, Punjab. During the 1980s and 1990s, Punjab was going through a difficult period because of militancy and heavy police action. While searching for missing people, Khalra discovered official records that showed many unidentified bodies had been secretly cremated without informing their families.
His research revealed that thousands of people had allegedly disappeared after being taken into police custody. His findings brought global attention to the issue and raised serious concerns about human rights violations.

His work helped expose cases that had remained hidden for years.
