Recently, Twitter CEO Elon Musk followed through on his promise to revoke the blue verification tick from some "legacy" verified accounts. This was part of a broader plan to introduce a paid monthly subscription plan for verification. As a result, several high-profile Twitter accounts lost their blue tick, including Bollywood stars such as Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Alia Bhatt, industrialists Ratan Tata and Anand Mahindra, and politicians like Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

On April 12, Elon Musk announced on Twitter that all users who had not paid for Twitter Blue would lose their verified blue badges starting April 20. Following this announcement, Twitter has begun to remove blue badges, and now verified accounts are displaying a message indicating that the account is verified because the user is subscribed to Twitter Blue and has verified their phone number.

Currently, Twitter Blue is available worldwide for $7 a month if users sign up via a web browser. However, for users who access Twitter through iOS or Android, the cost is $11 via in-app payment. In India, Twitter Blue is priced at Rs 900 per month on iOS and Android and Rs 650 on the web client. Additionally, Twitter offers a discounted yearly plan of Rs 6,500, which translates to approximately Rs 566 per month.
