As anticipation builds for Batwara 1947, the makers have unveiled a captivating set of character posters that offer a first look at the film’s stellar ensemble cast. Featuring Sunny Deol, Shabana Azmi, Preity Zinta, Ali Fazal, Karan Deol, Khushi Hajare, Kanikka Kapur, and Abhimanyu Singh, the posters capture intense emotions and hint at deeply personal stories set against the backdrop of the 1947 Partition. With each character reflecting courage, loss, and resilience, the film promises to bring alive the human side of one of history’s most significant events.
Sharing the posters on social media, the team wrote, “In a world torn apart, their story was a testament to courage. Meet the people who lived through it all.” The film is scheduled to arrive in theatres on August 14.
A Story Set During the 1947 Partition
Set against the backdrop of the 1947 Partition, Batwara 1947 tells the stories of ordinary individuals whose lives are transformed by extraordinary circumstances. Each character poster highlights emotions of fear, determination, and hope, hinting at the personal struggles faced during a period marked by separation and conflict.
A Strong Creative Team Behind the Film
The period drama is directed and co-written by Rajkumar Santoshi, who has also written the screenplay and dialogues with Wajahat Asghar. The film is produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit, while legendary composer A.R. Rahman creates the music and celebrated lyricist Javed Akhtar pens the songs, adding further excitement to the project.

Originally announced as Lahore 1947, the film recently received its new title along with a gripping motion poster. The video concludes with Sunny Deol holding a blazing torch, symbolising hope amid chaos, while Preity Zinta and Karan Deol stand behind him with expressions of fear and uncertainty, offering a glimpse into the emotional depth and human struggles that define this much-awaited Partition-era drama.
