Kangana Ranaut vs Baba Ramdev: What’s the row behind their new war of words?

Actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut is in a fresh war of words with yoga guru Baba Ramdev. The dispute began after Ramdev criticised Kangana’s comments about some young people and protesters, whom she had described as “Generation Gutter”.

Kangana had earlier reacted to videos from protests at Jantar Mantar linked to the NEET-UG paper leak issue. She criticised the language and behaviour seen in some videos and called them “puke-inducing”, “jarring” and “crass”. She also accused some young people of misusing their freedom, glorifying substance abuse and depending on their parents financially.

What Kangana Said About ‘Generation Gutter’

Kangana wrote that some young people had “nothing to offer to the system”. She also said some were not good at studies and described some young women as “ugly and corrupt”. She used the term “Generation Gutter” while talking about what she described as a particular section of young people.

Kangana later clarified that she was not talking about the entire youth population. She said her comments were specifically about some people or some women and not a blanket statement about all young people.

Baba Ramdev criticised Kangana’s remarks and questioned the way she had spoken about the country’s youth. According to reports, he said that calling the country’s young people a “gutter” was wrong and described such thinking as a sign of a disturbed state of mind. He also referred to questions about Kangana’s childhood, youth and past while discussing her comments.

Kangana Ranaut’s Sharp Reply to Ramdev

Kangana responded strongly on Instagram Stories. She wrote, “Baba ji don’t day dream about my jawani or bedroom,” and accused Ramdev of making personal remarks about her.

She also brought up Ramdev’s past legal controversy involving Patanjali. Kangana said that, unlike him, she had never received a Supreme Court reprimand for false or fraudulent medical efficacy claims. Her reference was to the 2024 case in which the Supreme Court had taken action over Patanjali’s misleading advertisements. Ramdev later gave an unconditional apology to the court.

The latest exchange has moved the debate from Kangana’s comments about young people to a more personal clash between the two public figures. Both have made strong statements, and the dispute has now become a major talking point on social media and in the news.
