Veteran Actor Pradeep Rawat Passes Away at 74 After Cancer Battle

Veteran actor Pradeep Rawat passed away on August 4 at the age of 74. He died on Tuesday evening at around 6 pm while undergoing treatment for cancer. His death has left fans and the film industry saddened.

Treatment he underwent

Pradeep Rawat was first admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. Around 10 days ago, he was shifted to a cancer hospital in Bhiwandi for further treatment. According to his manager, Siddharth Tiwari, the actor's cancer had returned, and he had been in the hospital for more than a month. Rawat is survived by his wife and his son, Vikramaditya.

Yashpal Sharma Pays Tribute

Actor Yashpal Sharma was the first to share the news of Pradeep Rawat's passing. He posted an emotional tribute on Instagram and remembered his longtime colleague.

He wrote, "Pradeep Rawat, our Ghajini Deva of Lagaan. RIP."

Later, Rawat's manager confirmed the news and said that the actor had been fighting cancer after it relapsed.

Career Spanning Over Four Decades

Pradeep Rawat had a successful acting career that lasted for more than 40 years. He worked in many film industries, including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali, Bhojpuri, Nepali and Marathi cinema.

He made his film debut in the early 1980s. However, he became widely popular after playing Ashwatthama in B.R. Chopra's famous television series Mahabharat. The role made him a familiar face in homes across India.

Memorable Roles in Films

Rawat became one of Indian cinema's most respected character actors and villains. He played Deva Singh in the Oscar-nominated film Lagaan (2001), starring Aamir Khan.

One of his most famous performances came in the Tamil blockbuster Ghajini (2005), where he played the villain Ghajini Dharmatma. His performance was so well received that he returned to play the same role in the 2008 Hindi remake opposite Aamir Khan.

Another important milestone in his career was S.S. Rajamouli's Telugu film Sye (2004). His role as Bikshu Yadav earned him wide praise from audiences and critics.

During his career, Pradeep Rawat acted in many successful films. Some of his well-known movies include Sarfarosh, The Hero: Love Story of a Spy, Stalin, Rowdy Rathore, Veeram, 1: Nenokkadine, Loukyam, Nenu Sailaja, Sarrainodu, Nene Raju Nene Mantri, Aayirathil Iruvar, Market Raja MBBS and Miss Match.

Even in recent years, he continued working in films. He appeared in Waltair Veerayya, Gulu Gulu, Chhaava, and several Marathi and Nepali projects.
