Veteran actress Rekha heaps heartfelt admiration to Richa Chadha post Heeramandi's special premiere
Bollywood's most iconic filmmaker, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is coming back, with yet another period drama, but a series this time, led by all female casts in the coming week, is now all set to make it's global premiere on OTT giant, Netflix. A very well-recognized director for his opulent ways of filmmaking, Bhansali has kept his audiences anticipating while waiting for his most awaited web series 'Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar'. Being one of the most promising-looking projects, people have bated their breath while waiting for it's sheer updates and the wait nearly seems to come to an end as it is going to make it's starry entrance on the television screens on the 1st of May, 2024.
Just yesterday, a special premiere of the upcoming series was organized for the industry fam in Mumbai. The event roped off numerous dignitaries of the tinsel town making it a grand affair on the screening night. The stars arrived last night at the venue to show the cast their support and live for Bhansali's debutant entry in the space of OTT. Recently, it has been reported that Richa Chadha, who is portraying the role of Lajjo in the series, has acquired immense admiration for her part by none other than veteran actress Rekha. In fact, Miss Chadha has revealed about the heartfelt encounter herself.
Right after the show's screening held in Mumbai yesterday, 24th April 2024, Rekha and Richa Chadha shared an enthralling moment at the event venue. As per the reports, the veteran actress was quite impressed with Richa's spell-bounding performance in the series and hence basked on her impeccable role played. Chadha while expressing her victory moment said, "Receiving praises and love from someone as revered as Rekha ji is a moment I will cherish forever. I couldn't have asked for bigger validation, my heart is full."
While expressing her feelings further, she even quipped how the actress has inspired Richa's one of the musical sequence in the series. "There's a song in the series, which is my solo mujra. For that, I referenced her song from Umrao Jaan, Ye kya jagah hai doston. She has been my inspiration, my hero and she’s the definition of what an icon is," she added.
Being able to live for her-and-Rekha moment, the Heeramandi actress felt her ninth cloud yesterday. proceeding with her concluding statement, she stated, "Her kind words and affection towards my performance in Heeramandi left me speechless and deeply touched. I will never forget this night and her blessings really. This is encouragement for me to continue striving for excellence in my craft. She gave me the tightest hug and that was truly something that left me overwhelmed."
Led by all women, the film is set in pre-independent India and revolves around the life of the courtesans when they were treated as equal as queens. As promised by the maker, the intense historical drama will take the audiences around the themes of 'love, power and freedom'. Speaking in more depth, in the midst of a power struggle, a young heir's choice dwindles the status quo of the era as she follows the route of love over succession. In the burgeoning freedom movement, the life of the courtesans are put under threat as they all battle to maintain what they possess.
