World No-Tobacco Day 2024: Actor Purab Kohli shares his journey of quitting his long lust addiction to tobacco

Purab Kohli is a well-known fame in the Indian entertainment realm who has given some of the most impeccable roles to Indian cinema. Both from OTT to mainstream, Purab is quite an accomplished actor and a model, but do you know he was once an addict too? Yes, you heard it correctly! On the occasion of World No-Tobacco Day, the Blind fame, Purab Kohli has recently revealed about the old dark days of his 20s when he used to smoke tobacco accessively for a wholesome decade. 

Purab Kohli's battle with smoking

On World No-Tobacco Day, Purab sat in an interview with a well-known media forum wherein he spoke about his own struggles with smoking. According to the actor, he started smoking at a very young age and became an addict. Initially, he succumbed to peer pressure and about perceiving the wrong notion of smoking as a 'Macho'. But after spending a whole decadence while smoking, during his 20's, one day he decided to quit. In the beginning, it was 'challenging', he quipped but he employed strategies like holding an unlit cigarette to control his longings. 

"I just woke up one morning and said that I have to stop, it was very hard... I started realizing how strong of an addiction I had to tobacco," Kohli shared. Proceeding further, he also revealed about the physical challenges his quitting phase brought alongside, including digestive malfunctions. However, he was rigid in his decision and made the impossible possible. "I am quite strong headed, if I make a decision, I stick to it," he continued while setting an example of human resilience and sincerity.

Purab also shared an instance where after years of his quitting, he soon landed into a character that required him to smoke, however this time it solidified his decision much stronger. He said, "The second time I quit was for forever" and shared about the physical and mental benefits of his decision. In fact he elaborated on the conditions of improved health, better sleep, and clearer thinking
