Zeenat Aman Shares About Her Battle with Eye Problem and Recent Surgery
Zeenat Aman recently shared her journey of dealing with an eye condition called ptosis and the surgery she underwent to correct her drooping eyelid. She candidly discussed how this condition had been a part of her life for four decades, affecting her vision and appearance, and expressed her gratitude towards colleagues in the film industry who continued to support her.
Ptosis is a medical term used to describe the drooping of the upper eyelid. Zeenat Aman's ptosis was the result of an injury she sustained many years ago, which damaged the muscles around her right eye. Over time, this injury caused her eyelid to droop even further, and a few years ago, it reached a point where it began to interfere with her ability to see properly.
Zeenat Aman's health update
In her heartfelt note, Zeenat Aman touched upon the difficulties she faced in the entertainment industry, where appearance often plays a crucial role in one's career. She acknowledged that this eye condition limited her opportunities and attracted unwanted attention. Despite the gossip, comments, and questions, she never let it make her feel diminished.
Zeenat Aman wrote, " I have a condition know as ptosis - the result of an injury I suffered many decades ago that damaged the muscles around my right eye. Over the years, it caused my eyelid to droop further and further. And a few years ago it became so acute that it began to obstruct my vision."
She further mentioned, "I dithered for a long time, then underwent a battery of tests and finally committed to the procedure. That morning in the hospital I was terrified. My extremities turned icy and involuntarily shivers racked my body."
Zeenat Aman expressed her gratitude towards her colleagues in the film industry who stood by her, even as her appearance changed due to ptosis.
