'DAKKUAN DA MUNDA' WILL BE ABOUT TRIUMPH OVER DRUG ABUSE

Biopics have never been Punjabi cinema’s strong point. Though, Punjabi film industry has gone through a radical change in the past few years and we have seen filmmakers making movies on different and unconventional topics, biographies are yet to be Punjabi cinema’s forte.

But this seems to be thing of the past now. After making two back to back biopics on Rupinder Gandhi, the slain controversial youngster from a village in Punjab, the makers of the movie are coming back with another real life story which will be based on a person’s battle against drug abuse. The male lead role will be played by dev kharoud.

If you follow Punjabi literature, there are chances you would have heard of the book titled ‘Dakkuan Da Munda’ which is the real life account of a person named Mintu Gurusar who was once mired in the rut of drug abuse. The book talks about Mintu’s survival.

The story of the movie will revolve around Mintu's journey how he resorted to stealing and looting in order to pay for his addiction. The movie will showcase his entire journey right from the viewpoint of a drug addict to a self reliant independent journalist who braved all odds to triumph his deepest demons.

After hearing the concept of the movie, calling this the golden era of Punjabi cinemas would not be an understatement, and the fact that it is based on a real life story makes it all the way more special.
