Deepika Padukone has announced her next Hollywood project, four and a half years after appearing in Vin Diesel's xXX: Return of Xander Cage. Eros STX Global Corporations' division STXfilms has signed the actor to a cross-cultural romantic comedy.
Deepika will not only star in the film, but will also co-produce it through her production company, Ka Productions. STXfilms is also in talks to develop the project with Temple Hill Productions' Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen, who worked on the Twilight franchise and The Fault in Our Stars.
Deepika said in a statement: "Ka Productions was founded with the goal of creating meaningful content with a global audience. I'm thrilled to be working with STXfilms and Temple Hill Productions, both of whom share Ka's ambition and creative vision and are looking forward to bringing impactful and dynamic cross-cultural stories to the world."
"There's a reason Deepika Padukone is one of India's most famous global stars. She is a tremendously talented woman with a contagious personality, and her international stardom is growing. While she has been a huge success in many Eros International films, we are thrilled to be working on a romantic comedy with her and our Temple Hill friends. We believe that this project will allow us to tap into the spirit, voice, characters, and vibrant settings of India and New York in ways that made Crazy Rich Asians feel authentic and new" said Adam Fogelson, chairman of STXFilms.
Besides, under her banner, she has also announced the Indian adaptation of the international film The Intern. Deepika and Amitabh Bachchan co-star in the film. Deepika's other projects include Shakun Batra's upcoming domestic noir film, Fighter with Hrithik Roshan, and Project-K with Prabhas.
