Jailer 2 Hindi release: Why PVR-INOX and Cinepolis won’t screen Rajinikanth’s film?

Rajinikanth’s much-awaited film Jailer 2 is scheduled to release in theatres on October 15, 2026. However, the Hindi version of the film is facing problems due to a disagreement between the makers and major multiplex chains. While the film is expected to release in several languages, including Hindi, its screening in North India may be limited because of a dispute over its OTT release plans.

However, Team Idhyah, the film’s public relations representatives in North India, denied these reports. The team clarified that the Hindi version was scheduled to release on Thursday, October 15, 2026, along with the other language versions. Despite this clarification, the film has now hit a major roadblock regarding its screening in national multiplex chains.

Why Will PVR-INOX and Cinepolis Not Screen Jailer 2 in Hindi?

According to industry sources, major multiplex chains PVR-INOX and Cinepolis will not screen the Hindi version of Jailer 2 because of a disagreement over its OTT release window. The dispute involves the multiplex chains, the film’s distributors, Pen Marudhar Entertainment, and its producer, Sun Pictures.

The makers reportedly want the film to arrive on OTT platforms just four weeks after its theatrical release. However, PVR-INOX and Cinepolis are insisting on an eight-week gap between a film’s theatrical release and its digital premiere. Since both sides have different expectations, the disagreement has affected the Hindi release plans in North India.

Where Can Audiences Watch Jailer 2 in North India?

Although the Hindi version will not be screened at these major multiplex chains, audiences may still be able to watch the film in standalone theatres and single-screen cinemas across North India. PVR-INOX is also yet to make a final decision about screening the Tamil and Telugu versions in the region.

The situation could affect the film’s box-office performance in the Hindi market. The makers reportedly have high expectations for the film and are aiming for a worldwide collection of Rs 1,000 crore. Missing out on major multiplex screens could make it more difficult to reach this target.

Jailer 2 OTT Release Details

According to industry reports, Jailer 2 is expected to premiere on Amazon Prime Video in November 2026. The film is likely to arrive on the platform in all languages, including Hindi. Its digital release may coincide with the Diwali festive period, which could help it reach a wider audience.

However, the official OTT release date has not been confirmed. The four-week window proposed by the makers remains at the centre of the dispute.
