Jasmine Sandlas wins hearts in Mohali with rainbow Dupatta and powerful message of LGBTQ acceptance
Punjabi singer Jasmine Sandlas touched hearts at her live concert in Mohali on Saturday as she delivered a meaningful message about love, equality and acceptance. As part of her The Dream Girl India Tour, the singer performed before thousands of fans, but it was her colourful rainbow dupatta and heartfelt words in support of the LGBTQ community that caught everyone's attention.
Through her appearance and speech, Jasmine reminded the audience that everyone deserves the freedom to love and live life on their own terms, without fear of judgment or discrimination.
Jasmine Sandlas Speaks About Love and Freedom
While addressing the crowd, Jasmine spoke about the divisions within Punjabi society and urged people to respect others' personal choices, especially when it comes to love and relationships.
“We are very divided as Punjabis. Let people love. Who are we tell someone whom they can or cannot love? Love is a very sacred thing. Many people do not find love; those who do should be allowed to love,” she said.
Her words carried a simple yet powerful message: love should not be restricted by society's expectations. She also highlighted how people often struggle to understand their own lives, questioning why they should decide how someone else chooses to live.
Jasmine's message encouraged people to move beyond differences and allow others the freedom to make their own choices. Her remarks brought attention to the importance of kindness, understanding and respect in a society where many people continue to face judgment for their identities and relationships.
Rainbow Dupatta Sends a Message of Inclusion
Adding meaning to her message, Jasmine appeared at the concert wearing a colourful rainbow dupatta. The rainbow flag and its colours are widely recognised as symbols of LGBTQ pride, visibility and the fight for equal rights.
Her choice of attire complemented her words, making her support for the community visible to the thousands gathered at the concert. Fans and social media users appreciated her gesture, welcoming the singer's stand for equality and acceptance.
At a time when LGBTQ individuals continue to experience social stigma and discrimination, Jasmine's public expression of support brought the conversation about dignity and inclusion to the forefront.
Remembering Mad Sandhu and His Voice for the LGBTQ Community
Jasmine's message also comes against the backdrop of the challenges faced by LGBTQ individuals and voices who speak openly about their identities. Mad Sandhu, whose first name was Madhusudan, was a well-known social media influencer and makeup artist who regularly appeared on podcasts to discuss makeup, the film industry and gender-related issues.
Open about being gay, Mad Sandhu often faced homophobic comments online. However, he stood by his identity and would respond to criticism by saying, “God has made me the way I am”. He became a prominent LGBTQ voice in the region and did not shy away from expressing who he was.
On October 3, Mad Sandhu was shot dead in the Loharka Road area of Amritsar, Punjab. According to the available details, two men on a motorcycle allegedly shot him before fleeing. He was found lying on the road with a gunshot wound.
A few days later, one of the key accused, identified as Parminder Prasad, alias Parminder Kaka, was arrested in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, during an operation by the Ahmedabad Crime Branch in coordination with the Gujarat Police.

Music With a Message That Matters
Jasmine Sandlas is known for her distinctive voice and energetic performances. However, her Mohali concert offered more than music and entertainment. By speaking about love, equality and individual freedom, she used her platform to encourage a more accepting society.
Her message was clear: everyone deserves love, respect and the freedom to live with dignity. Sometimes, a few words spoken from a stage can start a much-needed conversation, reminding people that acceptance begins when we allow others to be themselves.
