After enjoying a successful run in theatres, Imtiaz Ali’s period drama ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ is now ready to reach audiences at home. The film, which stars Diljit Dosanjh, Sharvari, Vedang Raina and Naseeruddin Shah, will make its digital debut on Netflix on Friday, August 7.

Netflix announced the OTT release on social media with a special message. The streaming platform wrote, “8 saal pehle jo kahaani adhoori reh gayi thi, woh ab poori hogi,” while confirming that the film would be available to watch from August 7.

Celebrating the 50-day milestone, Imtiaz Ali shared a heartfelt note thanking viewers who connected with the film and recommended it to others. He said the audience’s positive response gave him hope and inspired him to continue making entertaining cinema.

The filmmaker also thanked the cast, crew, exhibitors and distributors for their support, especially as the film did not have a strong opening in theatres.

What Is ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ About?

Set against the backdrop of Partition-era memories and family history, the film follows 95-year-old Ishar Singh Grewal, played by Naseeruddin Shah. After suffering a stroke while trying to travel to Sargodha in present-day Pakistan, memories of his past begin to return.

His grandson Nirvair, played by Diljit Dosanjh, comes back from England and begins uncovering secrets connected to his grandfather’s past. Sharvari and Vedang Raina also play important roles in the story. With its emotional family drama, mystery and historical backdrop, ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ is now ready for its next chapter on OTT.
