Virat Kohlis spokesperson rejects Rs 5 crore claim over Premanand Maharaj Ashram visits

Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma, have been visiting spiritual leader Premanand Maharaj’s ashram in Vrindavan for several years. Their visits have often become a topic of discussion among fans, with pictures and videos from the ashram receiving attention on social media.

The couple first met Premanand Maharaj in January 2023. Since then, they have visited the ashram on more than one occasion and sought the spiritual leader’s blessings. Their meetings have generally been viewed as part of their personal faith and spiritual beliefs.

Controversy Over Rs 5 Crore Claim

The couple’s visits have once again come into the spotlight following a claim made by Dinesh Sharma, also known as Falahari Maharaj and president of the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Sangharsh Nyas.

Sharma alleged that Rs 5 crore was spent to bring Virat Kohli to Premanand Maharaj’s ashram. The claim soon attracted attention because of Kohli’s massive popularity and the public interest surrounding his spiritual visits.

However, there was no valid evidence to establish that Kohli or Anushka Sharma had received Rs 5 crore for visiting the ashram. The allegation remained unverified.

Kohli’s Team Strongly Denies the Allegation

Responding to the claim, Virat Kohli’s spokesperson issued a strong clarification on social media. The spokesperson described the allegation as false and without any factual basis.

“We would like to categorically state that the claims made by Falahari Maharaj Dinesh Sharma in regards to Mr. Virat Kohli are completely false, baseless and factually incorrect.”

The spokesperson also explained that Kohli’s visits were not linked to any commercial arrangement. According to the statement, the cricketer visits Premanand Maharaj because of his personal faith and respect for him.

"Mr. Virat Kohli visits Premanand Maharaj Ji purely out of his deep faith and reverence for Maharaj Ji," the statement said.

Call for Responsible Reporting

The statement also highlighted the importance of checking information before sharing it with the public. Kohli’s team asked media organisations to verify claims and facts before reporting or giving them wider attention.

“We strongly refute these claims and urge the media to exercise due diligence, verify facts before reporting or amplifying such statements, and report responsibly,” the spokesperson added.

Kohli’s Spiritual Side Continues to Draw Attention

Virat Kohli remains one of the most followed sports personalities in India, even after stepping away from T20I and Test cricket. His professional career continues to attract headlines, while his personal choices also generate considerable interest among fans.

For Kohli and Anushka, their visits to Premanand Maharaj’s ashram have largely been associated with faith and seeking blessings.
