The film is a remake of the Hollywood movie 'Forest Gump' starring Tom Hanks. Earlier, director Hansal Mehta also appreciated Aamir Khan's movie 'Laal Singh Chaddha'. He wrote, "Watched #LaalSinghChaddha. It is a very engaging film made with passion and love. Maybe a bit too overstated emotionally and a bit superficial politically for my taste but a film made with so much care, heart and honesty. It deserves to succeed. So much to admire."

Adding to this, Hansal Mehta went on and stated that he was teary-eyed and even had a smile on his face in most of the scenes.
