Born to Kashmiri father- and British Mother

Katrina Kaif is half Indian and half British as she was born to Suzanne Tarkot (British Mother) and Mohammed Kaif (Kashmiri Father). Katrina's mother works as a social worker and lawyer. The couple divorced and split after a few years of marriage. Katrina was quite small when her parents got divorced.

Difficulties family faced

Suzanne, Katrina's mother, has raised her eight children on her own since the divorce. Katrina's mother had been teaching all of the children at home for a few years due to financial restrictions. 'I myself was shocked at how the mother raised eight of us children on her own,' Katrina stated in an interview. Katrina also revealed in the same interview that if they have children, she will not allow them to go through such a similar situation.

Katrina has one brother and six sisters. Christine and Stephanie, Katrina's two sisters, are both homemakers and married. Natasha, the third oldest sister, is a professional jeweler. Melissa is a mathematics scholar, and Sonia is a designer and photographer, among the younger sisters.

Katrina’s career began with Modelling

Katrina began her career as a model. Her Bollywood journey began when filmmaker Kajad Gustad noticed him in a fashion show. In 2003, Kajad cast Katrina in the English-Hindi erotica film 'Boom.' It was a box office flop. After that, she began to receive several modeling and commercial ad opportunities.

Why did Mahesh Bhatt remove Katrina from a film?

Katrina was cast in Mahesh Bhatt's film "Saya" (2003), but she was removed from the project owing to her bad Hindi and performance. In 2004, Katrina starred in the Telugu film Mallisavari, and in 2005, she starred in the Hindi film Sarkar.
