Meet Anurag Singh: The Man Behind Hit Punjabi Films

Starting his directing journey from Bollywood movie ‘Raqeeb’ in 2007, Anurag Singh is known for breaking out with Punjabi Jatt & Juliet in 2012. Born in Jalandhar, he studied media arts in Australia. Before turning to directing, Anurag worked as an assistant director for several years. Here are some unknown facts about the ‘Kesari’ fame director. Anurag Singh’s directorial ‘Jatt & Juliet’, ‘Jatt & Juliet 2’ and ‘Punjab 1984’ are the top 3 highest grossers of Punjabi cinema. Before stepping into Punjabi movies, he directed Bollywood movies ‘Raqeeb’ and ‘Dil Bole Hadippa!’ in 2007 and 2009. After doing a bunch of Punjabi movies, he came back to Bollywood in 2019 with 'Kesari'. Anurag Singh took his first step into Punjabi cinema with Arya Babbar’s ‘Yaar Annmulle’ in 2011. Later on he worked with Diljit Dosanjh and gave blockbuster movies at the box-office. Anurag Singh won the best director award at PTC Punjabi Film Awards  continuously for three years for his blockbuster movies ‘Jatt & Juliet’, ‘Jatt & Juliet 2’ and ‘Punjab 1984’ (Critics) from 2013- 2015. He has worked with Diljit Dosanjh as a director for most of his film projects like Jatt & Juliet series, ‘Punjab 1984’, ‘Super Singh’, ‘Disco Singh’. Currently, he is geared with his production projects ‘Shadaa’ starring Diljit Dosanjh and Neeru Bajwa, and ‘Puaada’ starring Ammy Virk and Sonam Bajwa. Besides direction and production, Anurag has also worked as a writer for movies like ‘Kesari’, ‘Yaar Annmulle’, ‘Punjab 1984’, ‘Disco Singh’.
