Kriti Sanon shared the trailer for her forthcoming film, Mimi, in which she portrays a surrogate mother, on Twitter. Her Luka Chuppi director Laxman Utekar and co-star Pankaj Tripathi both reunited for the film.
In the trailer, Pankaj Tripathi's character persuades Mimi (Kriti Sanon) to be a surrogate mother for an American couple.
She agrees after learning that she will not be involved in the conception of the child and will be compensated for carrying it for a total of 20 lakh.
Mimi is worried about how she'll explain her pregnancy to her parents, but Sai Tamhankar's character assures her that she may stay with her. Kriti's character is introduced as "Chand" by Sai's character, while Pankaj's character is introduced as her spouse 'Naseeruddin' by Pankaj's character, resulting in a lot of hilarity.
Mimi's world is turned upside down when she learns that the American couple no longer wants the kid and that she must have an abortion. She returns home, panics, and points at Pankaj's character while being questioned by her parents about the father of her child.
Mimi is a remake of the Marathi film 'Mala Aai Vhhaychy' that also won a National Award. For the role of a surrogate mother, Kriti gained 15 kgs.
Supriya Pathak and Manoj Pahwa will also play pivotal roles in Mimi. The film is set for a direct-to-digital release on Netflix and Jio Cinemas on July 30. It is produced by Dinesh Vijan under his banner Maddock Films.
