Allu Arjun starrer Pushpa 2 has been sold digitally at Rs. 250 crore; Here's everything to know about the sequel's digital rights
Over the years, Pushpa 2 had been one of the most talked about upcoming movie of the year 2024. With a superhit blockbuster, given by Allu Arjun, 'Pushpa: The Rise' of 2021 became a huge sensation, both critically and commercially and ever since then it's makers have been updating with little tips and trails of the upcoming sequel with each passing day. Meanwhile, the sequel will bring it's previous actors Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna reprising their roles and it looks already so promising, as shown in the teaser and the film's numerous posters.
Well coming to Pushpa sequel's satellite, digital, and distribution rights, the film is claiming records in some surreal numbers. Recently, it was reported that the rights of the Sukumar directorial has been acquired by Anil Kumar Thadani for it's North India Distribution at a whopping rate of Rs. 200 crore. By becoming a pop cultural phenomenon among the Indian cinema-goers, the film is quite in demand from every sphere. Now, according to the reports, the film's digital rights have been roped off by the OTT giant Netflix, for an earth-shattering base price of Rs 250 crore, which is expected to go higher by around Rs. 300 crore.
As per a source, close to the production, "It’s a record deal for all languages, surpassing the previous best by a margin of approx. Rs 100 crore. Pushpa 2 is among the genuinely awaited Pan India films after Bahubali 2 and KGF 2, and all the stakeholders are confident to spike excitement on their respective platforms for the content." Proceeding further with its price, it has confirmed that the respective contract is variable based on box office performance. "The newer ways of dealing is to set a base price and then hike it linked to box office returns. The base price for the Allu Arjun film is Rs 250 crore, with kickers extending up to Rs 300 crore," the source added. Ahead of the revelation, it also confirmed that previously it was SS Rajamouli's magnum opus, RRR at the record-holding spot which was sold at Rs. 170 crores.
Directed by Sukumar, Pushpa 2 is an upcoming Telugu-language action drama film that will feature Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna on the leading front. Meanwhile, the film is produced by Naveen Yerneni and Yalamanchili Ravi Shankar under the banners of Mythri Movie Makers. It is the second installment of the Pushpa film series and is a sequel to The Rise. Made with a budget of Rs. 500 crore, interestingly is is also one of the most expensive Indian film. Meanwhile, the promising action thriller is all set to release in theatres on the Independence Day, 15th August, 2024.
