Ammy Virk Canada Shooting: Shots fired at vehicle after Abbotsford show, father says singer was not targeted

Punjabi singer and actor Ammy Virk was reportedly caught up in a shooting incident in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada, shortly after his concert on September 5. While reports have linked the incident to a vehicle travelling with his convoy, police have not confirmed that Ammy Virk was the target or that he was inside the vehicle.

What happened after Ammy Virk’s concert?

According to the Abbotsford Police Department, a vehicle travelling through the 2500-block of McCallum Road was fired upon by occupants of a dark-coloured SUV at around 11 p.m. on September 5. Several shots were reportedly fired. Fortunately, no one was injured.

The incident took place shortly after Ammy Virk performed at Rogers Forum in Abbotsford as part of his 2026 Unity Tour. According to media reports, the vehicle that came under fire was part of the convoy connected to the singer’s show. Some reports have also claimed that a Rolls-Royce was targeted.

However, these details have not been officially confirmed by police. Authorities have also not confirmed whether Ammy Virk was inside the vehicle when the shooting took place.

SUV found completely burnt

Soon after the shooting, police received another report about a vehicle fire in the 2400-block of Sunnyside Place, around five kilometres from the shooting location. Officers found an SUV completely engulfed in flames. Investigators are now checking whether the burnt vehicle is connected to the shooting. Police have not yet revealed who the intended target was or what may have led to the incident.

What did Ammy Virk’s father say?

Ammy Virk’s father, Kuljit Singh, has said that his son is safe. According to reports, Singh learnt about the incident on the morning of September 9 and tried to contact Ammy.

Singh reportedly said that Ammy’s brother Bhagwant speaks to the singer every day. According to him, Bhagwant informed him that the firing was not directed at Ammy Virk’s vehicle and was instead related to the party that had organised the singer’s show.

Singh, who is the sarpanch of Lohar Majra village in Nabha, also reportedly said that Ammy has no enmity with anyone.

Police investigation continues

The Abbotsford Police Major Crime Unit is investigating the shooting and the possible connection between the two incidents. No injuries or arrests have been reported so far. Police have appealed to witnesses and people with dashcam footage from the McCallum Road area between 10:45 p.m. and 11:30 p.m., as well as the Sunnyside Place area between 11 p.m. and midnight, to come forward.

For now, the shooting has been confirmed by police, but claims that Ammy Virk was specifically targeted remain unconfirmed. His father has said the singer is safe and that the incident was not aimed at him.
