Gippy Grewal claims Air Canada threatened to deboard him after Business Class downgrade

Punjabi singer and actor Gippy Grewal has raised concerns about his recent experience with Air Canada. The actor took to X (formerly Twitter) to complain after he was allegedly moved from Business Class to Economy Class despite having paid for a Business Class ticket.

Gippy described the experience as “really bad” and questioned the way the airline staff handled his complaint during the flight.

Gippy Says He Was Threatened With Removal From the Flight

According to Gippy, he was placed in an Economy Class seat without his consent. When he asked the airline staff why his Business Class seat had been changed, he said he was told that nothing could be done. Gippy claimed that staff gave him the choice of either travelling in Economy Class or leaving the flight. He also alleged that when he continued asking for an explanation, he was told that he could be taken off the plane.

The singer said he was not demanding anything extra from the airline. He explained that he only wanted the seat he had paid for and an explanation about the downgrade.

“Not Even a Simple Apology”

Sharing photos of the airline staff, Gippy expressed his disappointment with the way the situation was handled. He wrote on X that there was “not even a simple apology” from the airline staff. He also questioned why he was being treated this way when he was simply asking about a service he had already paid for. His post quickly attracted attention, with several social media users supporting the singer and asking him to formally take up the matter with Air Canada.

Air Canada Responds

Following Gippy’s complaint, Air Canada responded to his post on X. The airline said it was sorry to hear about his experience and apologised for the inconvenience caused.

The airline asked Gippy to send his booking reference and full name through a direct message so that it could investigate the matter. At present, Air Canada has not publicly provided a detailed explanation for why Gippy’s Business Class seat was changed to Economy. The airline’s investigation will determine what happened and why the downgrade took place.
