Guru Randhawa drops new song Marzi; its all about living life on own terms

Guru Randhawa new song Marzi: Guru Randhawa is back with a new Punjabi single titled Marzi, and the song carries a strong message about confidence, freedom and making your own choices. The track is now available on major streaming platforms and brings a fresh energy to the singer’s growing list of standalone releases.

Vision Behind Marzi

The song takes inspiration from the Punjabi phrase “mitran di marji”, which roughly means “our wish, our way”. Guru builds the song around this idea, with the lyrics highlighting the freedom to choose where you want to sit, where you want to stand and which path you want to follow. The overall message is clear there is no need to compromise when it comes to your own choices.

Mixture Of Punjabi Swag And Confidence

Musically, Marzi moves on a slow-burning groove and uses plenty of Punjabi slang. The lyrics also play with different forms of address, bringing “bai ji” and “sir ji” together. This gives the track a street-style attitude while keeping its message of self-belief at the centre.

New Look For Guru Randhawa

The music video takes Guru in a different direction from the polished visuals often seen in his earlier work. Instead, the singer appears as the only on-screen figure and is seen going through intense training sessions and staged fight sequences.

The video also shows a dramatic rise in scale, beginning with a vintage Maruti Suzuki Gypsy and heavy goods vehicles before moving to blacked-out Mercedes-Benz G-Wagons, fighter jets and a police escort. Despite all the luxury and power around him, Guru presents himself as someone who remains connected to his roots.

Guru Randhawa On The Song

Talking about the idea behind Marzi, Guru said, "This song is about ownership of your choices, your circle, your story. Punjab doesn't ask for a seat at the table. We build our own table. This is for everyone who has forged their own path from the ground up, call their own shots and lives life entirely on their own terms,"

From Fine Shyt Backlash To Marzi

The release also comes after Guru faced online criticism over his earlier song Fine Shyt. Many social media users questioned its title and lyrics, with some calling them “cringe”. Guru responded to the trolling in his own light-hearted way on Instagram, writing, “Guilty as charged of making songs that repeat in your head forever. Low-key loving the edits though. No bad vibes! It's just a silly little slang… calm down calm down calm down fam."
