Gippy Grewal celebrates his wife Ravneet Kaur Grewal’s birthday, their relationship offers a look at a chapter of his life that began long before he became a familiar name in Punjabi music and cinema. Gippy has spoken about Ravneet and their early years in several interviews and podcasts, often recalling the struggles they faced together before his career took off.

In his conversation with Ranveer Allahbadia, Gippy revealed that he and Ravneet first met in Chandigarh. He also shared that they got married at a young age he was 21, while Ravneet was 20. Gippy said that while his family was ready for the marriage, Ravneet’s parents were initially not ready for their daughter to marry him.

Their relationship therefore began at a time when Gippy had not yet established himself as a singer or actor. The couple entered married life while his professional future was still uncertain.

Ravneet Was With Him During the Struggle

Gippy’s memories of his early years in Canada provide some of the clearest insight into Ravneet’s role in his journey. In an interview, the singer recalled that he and Ravneet worked multiple jobs in Canada while he was trying to fund his music career. He said they delivered newspapers, cleaned and took on other jobs, with the earnings helping him pursue music.

Gippy has also spoken about those years more recently, recalling how he and Ravneet worked for hours collecting trays and cleaning in food courts. In many previous interviews, Gippy Grewal stated that, they worked several jobs and continued until late at night to make ends meet.

Journey Behind His Music

Those difficult years were also connected to Gippy’s early music ambitions. His debut album, Chakk Ley, was released in 2002. Gippy has previously explained that earning and saving money through those jobs was part of how he managed to pursue his music career.

Importantly, Gippy’s own recollections show Ravneet as someone who was working alongside him during this period rather than simply supporting him from the sidelines.

Ravneet’s Inspiration Behind Ardaas

Gippy Grewal has also credited Ravneet Kaur for inspiring one of the most significant projects of his career, Ardaas. According to reports, Gippy said that Ravneet and their children, Ekomkar and Gurfateh, were more regular with prayers than he was. He also revealed that Ravneet gave him the courage and support to make Ardaas, adding that he would not have made the film without her.

The 2016 film, which marked Gippy’s directorial debut, went beyond being a conventional commercial project and connected with audiences through its themes of faith, struggle and hope. In that sense, Gippy’s own words about Ravneet bring a personal meaning to the saying, “Behind every successful man, there is a woman.”
