What happened between Himanshi Khurana and Asim Riaz? Inside their latest social media feud

A fresh war of words has started between former couple Himanshi Khurana and Asim Riaz after their past relationship once again became a topic of public discussion. The latest controversy began after Punjabi actress and former Bigg Boss 13 contestant Himanshi Khurana spoke about religion, faith and her experience during her relationship with Asim while appearing on Paras Chhabra’s podcast.

All About Himanshi Khurana- Asim Riaz War of Words

Himanshi did not directly name Asim during the conversation. However, her comments were widely linked to their relationship because the couple had previously said that differences in their religious beliefs played a role in their separation.

While discussing reports that she had considered changing her religion, Himanshi said, “He used to tell me the good things about his religion. Everyone tells you about those things; there is nothing wrong with that. They wanted me to understand it and accept it, but it was not acceptable to me. There was nothing wrong with him; he never misbehaved with me, but it was my own choice that I did not want to do something like that.”

She further explained how the situation affected her personally. Himanshi said, “I felt like I was betraying my God. I felt I wouldn’t be able to do this anymore. So I said I want to visit Char Dham and all the pilgrimages before that, because after that I would never be able to meet them. It was like I was saying goodbye. The fact that this question even arose was a big thing  why did I feel like I was saying goodbye to my God?”

Himanshi Says the Discussion Was Being Blown Out of Proportion

After clips from the podcast began circulating online, the discussion around Himanshi’s comments grew quickly. She later addressed the reaction through an Instagram Story and said that the media discussion had turned a personal experience into a much bigger issue.

Himanshi wrote, “Media making a huge public debate over minor discussion of my life experience in podcast without saying bad about anyone, that's total storm in a teacup. Chalo koi ni carry on.” However, the Instagram Story was later deleted.

Her comments are important because she had described the situation as something she personally experienced and had also clarified during the podcast that she would not describe it simply as “conversion.” Her remarks instead focused on her discomfort with the idea of accepting another religion and the conflict she felt with her own faith.

Asim Riaz Responds to Himanshi

Days after the podcast remarks went viral, Asim Riaz responded strongly on social media. He denied that he had ever asked anyone to change their religion and objected to the way the discussion was being presented.

Asim wrote, “I never asked anyone to change their religion. Not once. Matter of fact, I was the one who pushed you towards fitness. You’ve been in this shape only after meeting me; before that, everyone knew how you looked. So please, don’t use religion as a weapon. It’s a deeply sensitive subject, and turning something so personal into a reason for people to hate me is immature and only shows how low you’re willing to go for attention.”

He also addressed questions about their careers and finances, writing, “And when it came to my career, I never needed anyone to build it for me or claim credit for what they never contributed. Who has more money and who has less? Well, if you really want to know, the bank statements can settle that. But money was never the measure of character. Character is how far you’re willing to fall when you’re desperate for attention, relevance, or a few more views. Years later, digging through old relationships and personal life just to create more gossip says more about the person digging than the person being talked about.”

Asim Also Takes Aim at Paras Chhabra

Asim’s response did not stop with Himanshi. He also criticised podcast host Paras Chhabra, who had interviewed Himanshi.

Asim wrote, “And to the man behind the microphone, sitting there with his stomach hanging out like a pig while making gossip his profession, brother, respectfully, I’d suggest spending a little less time discussing other people’s lives and a little more time in the gym.”

Paras later appeared to respond through a cryptic social media post, although the exchange between the two has not developed into a detailed public statement from Paras.

Asim Says Himanshi Wanted to Reconcile

Asim then made another serious claim about what happened after their breakup. In a post on X, he referred to Himanshi’s reported health struggles and questioned why she had contacted him months after their separation.

He wrote, “Bad relationship- thyroid, anxiety, depression, nosebleed, face old, Smell from hair, face acne. So why did you message me after 3 months in March and wanted to get back to this relationship? Don’t worry, I have the message screenshot; if needed, I will post it next time.”

This has added another layer to the dispute, with Asim suggesting that their communication continued after the breakup and that he has screenshots of those conversations.

What Happened Between Himanshi and Asim in the Past?

Himanshi Khurana and Asim Riaz met during Bigg Boss 13 in 2019. Himanshi entered the show as a wild-card contestant, and their relationship became one of the most discussed parts of the season. They continued their relationship after leaving the show and remained together for around four years.

In December 2023, the two announced that they had separated. At that time, Himanshi said they were “sacrificing our love for our different religious beliefs”. Asim also later confirmed that they had mutually decided to part ways because of their different religious beliefs.

The former couple had also publicly discussed the breakup at that time. Himanshi shared a screenshot of a conversation with Asim in which he suggested that the breakup reason should be described as their different religions and beliefs. Asim was quoted as saying, “Sahi hai. You should actually write the real reason about that we come from a different religion. We both have different beliefs. With all due respect to his and mine religion and not seeing any further together. We have parted ways.”

Why the Old Relationship Is in the News Again?

The current controversy has brought those old statements back into public discussion. Himanshi has spoken about how religious differences affected her emotionally, while Asim has strongly denied asking anyone to change their religion and has questioned the way the issue has been discussed publicly.

For now, the two sides have presented different accounts of their past experience. Himanshi has spoken about her personal feelings and her conflict over faith, while Asim has rejected the suggestion that he asked her to change her religion and has raised his own claims about what happened after their breakup.

The latest exchange has therefore turned an old breakup story into a new public dispute, with social media posts, podcast clips and viral reels bringing the former couple back into the spotlight.
