The initiative has gained attention because Honey Singh himself has openly spoken about his battle with drug addiction and mental health struggles. His decision to now speak directly to the youth of Punjab gives the campaign a deeply personal and emotional message.

Strong Message for Punjab’s Youth

After meeting Tarun Chugh, Honey Singh made a heartfelt appeal to the youngsters of Punjab. He urged them to stay away from drugs and return to the healthy traditions Punjab is known for. “Do not even go close to these substances that nearly destroyed my life,” Honey Singh said while addressing the youth.

The singer also encouraged young people to embrace a healthy lifestyle by consuming traditional Punjabi food products like milk, curd, and ghee instead of harmful substances. He said Punjab, its families, and its youth were being destroyed because of drug addiction and promised to work with the BJP and Tarun Chugh to help the state become drug free.

Tarun Chugh says 'Punjab: Land of Gurus and Strength'

In statements released after the meeting, Tarun Chugh and Honey Singh spoke about the true identity of Punjab. They said Punjab is “a land of the Gurus, of valour, of stout physiques and beauty and that is the Punjab everyone needs to reestablish.”

A video released during the campaign showed Chugh and Honey Singh sharing a glass of milk, symbolising health, strength, and Punjab’s traditional way of life. The campaign is also becoming an important part of BJP’s political focus ahead of the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections, where the party is strongly raising the issue of drug addiction in the state.

Tarun Chugh Calls Honey Singh’s Life “Inspiring”

Tarun Chugh said Honey Singh’s personal journey makes him the perfect voice to connect with Punjab’s youth.

“Yo Yo Honey Singh is Punjab's son who has raised his profile all over the world. His life is inspiring. How he reached the pinnacle, then fell in bad company, and then recovered again. It took him eight years but he came back from drugs,” Chugh said.

The BJP leader said he had appealed to Honey Singh to share his real-life experience with young people so they understand that recovery is possible.

“In the land of rivers, now drugs are flowing and eating into the vitals of our state. Honey Singh has promised to help me save Punjab from drugs. If anyone tells Punjab youth they have only six months to live, do not believe them. You can still come back,” Chugh added.

Honey Singh’s Battle With Drugs

Honey Singh is among the few celebrities in India who publicly admitted their struggle with drug addiction. At the peak of his career, when he was delivering hit songs and performing around the world, he slowly fell into substance abuse.

In several interviews over the years, Honey Singh has openly spoken about how drugs and alcohol badly affected his physical and mental health. He disappeared from the public eye in 2014 when his addiction and bipolar disorder started impacting his life and career.

The singer revealed that there was a period when he was unable to even leave his room or face people. Addiction had pushed him into darkness despite all the fame and success he had achieved. Honey Singh later shared that recovery was not quick or easy. According to him, it took nearly 8 years for him to completely recover and remove the effect of drugs from his system. His journey became a rare example in the entertainment industry where a major celebrity openly accepted his mistakes instead of hiding them.

Rise of “Honey Singh 2.0”

After years of recovery and treatment, Honey Singh slowly returned to music and public life. Fans often describe this phase of his life as “Honey Singh 2.0” a more mature, honest, and self-aware version of the rapper. Today, Honey Singh openly talks about mental health, addiction, recovery, and self-discipline. His comeback is not only about music but also about survival and transformation.

By joining the anti-drug campaign in Punjab, Honey Singh is now using his own painful experiences to warn young people before they fall into addiction. For many youngsters, his message carries weight because it comes from someone who has personally lived through the damage drugs can cause.

Drug Campaign Beyond Politics

The campaign is not just about politics or elections. It also highlights a larger social concern in Punjab, where drug addiction has affected many families over the years. Honey Singh’s participation gives the movement emotional power because he represents both success and recovery. His story shows that addiction can destroy even the biggest stars, but it also proves that people can rebuild their lives with determination, treatment, and support.

The message from both Tarun Chugh and Honey Singh is clear Punjab’s youth must choose health, discipline, and hope over addiction. In addition to this, as Honey Singh himself says, “Do not even go close to these substances that nearly destroyed my life.”
