Pakistani model poses 'bare head' at Kartarpur Sahib; SAD President demands strict action against her

After pictures of a photoshoot performed in front of the Kartarpur Gurdwara Darbar Sahib went viral on social media, a clothing brand has recently become the target of controversy.

The images showed a Pakistani model posing 'bare-headed' with her back to the Gurudwara for an advertisement for 'Mannat,' a women's clothing brand. This sparked widespread outrage, with netizens accusing the model and the brand of infringing on Sikh religious sentiments.

Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader and president of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, has called on the Government of Pakistan and Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan to act immediately after images emerged of a model shooting for a clothing brand inside of the Sri Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara.

He took to his Twitter handle and wrote, “Modelling at Sri Kartarpur Sahib is Desecration. Pak Court issued Arrest Warrant of star who did dance video at Mosque; same must be done against this woman from Lahore as an example of treating all religion at par Otherwise, any talk of respect for Sikhism is hollow @GovtofPakistan

Further, he stated, "The Pakistan Government should immediately intervene and take steps to stop this trend of treating Kartarpur Sahib as a picnic spot by Pakistan people.”

The Sikh community was outraged by the advertisement. Kiranjot Kaur, the former general secretary of the SGPC, stated that commercializing a religious site was extremely objectionable."It is wrong and authorities must act on it immediately," she said.

However, the clothing brand has also issued a statement regarding the same and cleared that the pictures posted on their social media accounts are not concerned with any specific brand or person. Whereas the pictures were sent to them from a third-party source.
