'Ponniyin Selvan 1' finally hits theatres; fans offer milk to Vikram's poster, burst crackers

'Ponniyin Selvan 1': Who said the film industry is facing a crisis? Well, go to the South and watch the real craze of fans for their favourite stars.  In the meanwhile, Mani Ratnam's magnum opus 'Ponniyin Selvan 1' was released in India on Friday, and the fans from Tamil Nadu showed their excitement and celebrated the release of Chiyaan Vikram and Aishwarya Rai's pan-India film.

Meanwhile, the fans gathered in huge numbers outside the movie theatre and celebrated the release of Chiyaan Vikram and Aishwarya Rai's pan-India film 'Ponniyin Selvan 1' by playing drums and dancing in front of the cinema hall.

In Madurai, some of the fans offered milk and put garlands around Vikram's poster. Likewise, some performed pooja and burst crackers.

In the 'Ponniyin Selvan 1', Vikram is playing the role of Aditya Karikalan while Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be seen in dual roles.

Yes, you read it right. Aishwarya will play queen Nandini, the princess of Pazhuvoor, who is seeking vengeance, as well as Mandakini Devi in the historical drama.

Apart from these two, Trisha will be essaying the role of 'Kundavai' while Ravi will portray 'Arunmozhi Varman'. Directed by Mani Ratnam, 'Ponniyin Selvan 1' is a pan-India film that is a cinematic adaptation of author Kalki Krishnamurthy's Tamil novel of the same name.
