In an interview, the actress was speaking straight from her heart and said that in Hollywood women of a certain age limit are given good roles for women whereas the Hindi film industry is still a little ageist. Then, she also added saying that now things are changing because of the OTT platform.

Further, the actress said that powerful roles are given to men and slightly ageist is given to women. Then, she recalled the time when special scripts were written for the legendary Amitabh Bachchan, and Anupam Kher and not for any actress in particular.

However, she also mentioned that Hindi cinema is nowhere in comparison to Hollywood as they provide effective roles in providing roles to older women. Then, she added saying that there are wonderful actors in the Bollywood industry as well and she took Neena Gupta’s name and called her a great actor. In addition to this, she said that it would take some time to change the mindset of people but it will surely change.

On the work front, Sharmila Tagore will next be seen in Gulmohar which is directed by Rahul V Chittella. The movie stars Sharmila Tagore, Amol Palekar, Suraj Sharma and Simran Bagga in key roles. The movie will release on March 3.
