Mahashivratri is all around the way and it will be celebrated on February 18, 2023. The Shiv bhakts all around the globe are preparing for the festival with full zest and enthusiasm. Well the curiosity here is, not each one of us is aware for the reason behind such an auspicious Hindu festival. There are numerous beliefs in the matter of fact. Some says, Its the day when ‘Maa Parvati’ got married with Shiva. While other’s say it is when lord Shiva saved the world and drank the poison emerged at the time of ‘Samudra Manthan’, the moment when the lord became the ‘Neelkanth.’ Interesting for any reason to be valid though! Here in the country ‘Mahashivratri’ is an extra big affair, and below are the list of few places where the Hindu festival is mesmerizing.
Haridwar – The land full of ghats and holiness, the place is visited by many devotees all throughout the year, but it increases in thousands of dozens on the day of ‘Mahashivratri,’ of-course to offer the prayers to the Mahadev. Neelkanth Mahadev Temple is the most visited place in the city.
Kamakhya Temple – One of the Shaktipith’s of ‘Maa Sati’, Kamakhya Temple is situated in North East, Guwahati. On the heart of Nilachal range, kamakya stands tall. The temple is said to be visited by ‘Naga Sadhus’ and ‘Aghoris’ all around the globe and it’s a place of true devotion and ‘tantra vidya.’ People come here to worship Mahadev and take his blessings on the day of Mahashivratri. 
Somnath temple – The Somnath temple, situated in western state of Gujarat is the twelve jyotirlingas of lord Shiva. The temple is visited by the  devotees from all around the country and decorated with flowers and lights all throughout the temple.

Ujjain – Ujjain’s Mahakaleshwar temple is one of the another ‘Jyotirlinga’ of Shiva. The temple fair is visited by people of all age group to seek the blessings of the Lord. Here the festival is celebrated on the bank of river ‘Kshipra’.
