Raghav Juyal issues a statement after netizens accuse him of using racist slurs on Dance Deewane 3

A video of of Raghav Juyal, host of the dance reality show 'Dance Deewane 3' has gone viral on the internet and has been creating a stir among the netizens for its racist slurs. The show's host, dancer Raghav Juyal, is seen introducing an Assamese child contestant, Gunjan Sinha, by mimicking a Chinese accent and making fun of her northeastern origins.

However, Raghav shared a video on his social media accounts clarifying the real reason behind the introduction of the contestant on the stage before the performance.

In a video posted on his social media page, Juyal stated that people should consider the wider picture in order to better understand the background of his interaction with contestant Gunjan Sinha. He stated that understanding the scenario is essential because being labelled a racist is impacting his psychological health.

He also told, that he can never hurt intentionally to anyone as he has family and friends in the North-East, and said that he not only respects people from the region but has also try his best to stand up for them.

Explaining the details further, Raghav said that the child had told the creatives that she can speak  Chinese, which was largely gibberish. She termed it as her hoobies and talent, and throughout the show, she would speak this made-up language in jest. “Towards the end of the show, I decided to speak in a similar way to introduce her in one of the episodes. It has been an inside joke on the show and one shouldn’t judge us with just that clip,” he shared.

Raghav also shared the video clip from the audition of the contestant Gunjan which is the actual clip of from which the series of calling out Gunjan on the stage started in a unique way. Raghav captioned the video as “This is what happened , actually.”

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also shared a tweet and criticised the act, "It has come to my notice that a popular reality show host has used racist rhetoric against a young participant from Guwahati. This is shameful and totally unacceptable.   Racism has no place in our country and we should all condem it unequivocally."
