'Citadel' shoot begins: Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Varun Dhawan's much-awaited spy franchise 'Citadel' begins filming. 

With the release of Samantha Ruth Prabhu's first picture, the producers have officially confirmed that Samantha Ruth Prabhu would play the lead in the Indian adaptation of the spy franchise "Citadel".

The announcement comes more than a month after Varun was introduced as the series' leading man. In an Instagram post, the Russo Brothers said, "We are delighted to formally announce that we will be bringing you the Indian installment of the Citadel universe.

The actress is believed to portray a spy in this espionage action series, which will be helmed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK (Raj & DK), who also serve as showrunners and executive producers. The actress is likely to be dressed in jeans, a leather jacket, and donning sunglasses.

The global franchise Citadel is reportedly a first of its kind and creates a plot with multiple threads.

For the unversed, 'Citadel' which featured Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra was reportedly the most expensive series created in history after 'Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power'.
