South Indian films' current success won't be long-term impact on Bollywood, says Nawazuddin Siddiqui

With RRR and KGF Chapter 2's successful run at the box office, the Hindi Film industry seemed to have been witnessing a wave of South Indian films. Courtesy of their phenomenal success, viewers are opting toward multilingual films. However, Nawazuddin Siddiqui has spoken on the subject, claiming that this is only a 'phase' and that it will expire once a Hindi film becomes a blockbuster hit.

The actor said that he does not believe South Indian films' current success in the Hindi market will have a long-term impact on Bollywood. After their release on March 24 and April 14, respectively, the Hindi dubbed versions of SS Rajamouli's Telugu film RRR and Prashanth Neel's Kannada film KGF Chapter 2 have done record-breaking business.

Talking about the same matter the actor quoted, “One mistake that happened is that we kept doing remakes of South films. The biggest problem here is with the writers and stories, we are not making originals at all, leaving everything up to the remakes. I think we should take a lesson from that mistake and start making original films. That would be better."

On being asked if the entrance of South Indian films into the Hindi market has had an impact on Bollywood, Nawazuddin responded, “I think it's just a phase, now if a Bollywood film comes and becomes a super-duper hit, then the things you are saying right now, that will change. Here people's thoughts change after every picture, people only talk about the film that becomes a hit. But if a Hindi picture comes now and becomes a super-duper hit, this perception will change again."

Nawazuddin will next be seen in Heropanti 2, an action thriller. Tiger Shroff and Tara Sutaria star in the leading roles in the film, which will be released on April 29. Tiger's character Babloo will face off against Nawazuddin's Laila in Heropanti 2 in order to put an end to cyberattacks all over the world.
