Taali: Sushmita Sen to portray transgender activist Gauri Sawant; shares first look of new series

Sushmita Sen in 'Taali': Bollywood diva Sushmita Sen is all set to amuse her fans with an exciting project titled 'Taali'. To note, Sushmita Sen will be seen portraying transgender activist Gauri Sawant in the upcoming web series. The actress unveiled her first look and left everyone speechless.

Gauri Sawant is the first transgender who established the Sai Savli Foundation Trust.  She has assisted those who are HIV/AIDS positive. The upcoming series titled 'Taali' serves as Gauri Sawant's biopic.

"Nothing makes me prouder & more grateful than to have the privilege of portraying this beautiful person & of bringing her story to the world!! " wrote Sushmita Sen, as she shared the first look of the project.

As soon as the picture was shared, Sushmita Sen's fans were amazed at her next project. One user wrote, 'looking forward to this, while another called Sushmita Sen a 'tigress and queen'.

Who is Gauri Sawant? Know all about transgender activist

In 2000, activist Gauri Sawant established the Sakhi Char Chowghi Trust, an NGO that supports safe sex and offers to counsel to transgender persons. The six-part documentary will document Sawant's journey to parenthood as the first transgender person in India. The sweet mother-daughter relationship will also be emphasized.

The series is being written by Kshitij Patwardhan and is helmed by Ravi Jadhav. Meanwhile, the project is bankrolled by Kartk D Nishandar, Arjun Singh Baran, and Afeefa Nadiadwala Sayed.
