'The Flying Sikh'- Milkha Singh passes away; this is how Bollywood tributes the legendary athlete!

The Olympic sprinter Milkha Singh passed away on Friday night in Chandigarh post Covid-19 complications. The legendary athlete, who has represented India at three Olympic Games, was tested positive for novel Coronavirus on May 19. He was admitted to a hospital on May 24 due to Covid pneumonia after which he was shifted to the PGIMER where he took heavenly abode on June 18.

The news about Milkha Singh’s demise had taken everyone by shock and it is definitely a great loss to all. Minutes after the news break, social media handles was poured with tributes from famous celebrities including Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Farhan Akhtar and many others.

Farhan Akhtar who played Milkha Singh in his biopic ‘Bhaag Mikha Bhaag’ penned an emotional note for the legendary athlete which left us speech less.

While sharing a picture with Milkha Singh; Farhan Akhatar wrote, “Dearest Milkha ji,

A part of me is still refusing to accept that you are no more. Maybe it’s the stubborn side I inherited from you.. the side that when it sets it’s mind on something, just never gives up.

And the truth is that you will always be alive. Because you were more than a large hearted, loving, warm, down to earth man. You represented an idea. You represented a dream. You represented (to use your own words) how hard work, honesty and determination can lift a person off his knees and get him to touch the sky.

The Bhaag Milkha Bhaag actor further added, “You have touched all our lives. For those who knew you as a father and a friend, it was a blessing. For those who didn’t, your story was a constant source of inspiration and a reminder of humility in success.

I love you with all my heart.”

Amitabh Bachchan said he was in grief following the death of Milkha Singh. "The pride of India, a great athlete, a greater human. Waheguru di Mehr, prayers," he wrote.

Anil Kapoor sharing a series of pictures reminisced the time when he went to Milkha’s place and his wife offered him with the best aalo parathas. He captioned the pictures as “Milkha Singh ji welcomed us into his home and his lovely wife fed us the most unforgettable aloo parathas I've ever had... He truly was an incredible sportsman, phenomenal host and above all an amazing human being... will be truly and deeply missed..."
