Lok Sabha Elections 2024

Today marks the commencement of the first phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024, with the voting process starting at 7:00 am across Tamil Nadu for all 39 parliamentary seats, along with 102 parliamentary constituencies spanning 21 states and Union Territories. The voting window extends until 6:00 pm.

Joining Dhanush in the participation of this democratic exercise were other cinema luminaries including Rajinikanth, Ajith Kumar, and Kamal Haasan, who also cast their votes in Chennai. As they fulfilled their civic duty, these actors graciously acknowledged the presence of fans and paparazzi, proudly displaying their inked fingers for photographers and videographers to capture the moment.

The political landscape is charged with Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking a third consecutive term, while the opposition has coalesced into a coalition known as INDIA, aiming to challenge the ruling BJP in these general elections. Prime Minister Modi, recognizing the gravity of these elections, urged citizens nationwide to turn out in record numbers and exercise their franchise. Through a social media post, he underscored the significance of each vote and called upon young and first-time voters to actively participate in shaping the nation's future.

Reflecting on the previous 2019 general elections, the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance emerged victorious in Tamil Nadu, securing 38 out of 39 seats.

As the electoral process unfolds, subsequent phases are scheduled, with the second phase slated for April 26, followed by May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25, and June 1. The culmination of this electoral journey will be the counting of votes on June 4.
