During this discussion, Aamir offered insights into his current mindset and hinted at the possibility of reducing his on-screen presence.
Aamir revealed that his decision to produce ‘Laapataa Ladies’ stemmed from a blend of "fear and desire." Reflecting on his career during the COVID-19 pandemic, Aamir shared, "At the age of 56, I came to realize that this is the final phase of my career. I have around 15 more years of active work, and I want to give back. The industry, society, and the nation have given me so much. I initially thought I could make one film a year, but as a producer, I can support multiple stories that resonate deeply with me." This introspective admission has led to widespread speculation about whether Aamir Khan is preparing to transition into a role that focuses more on production and nurturing talent, rather than continuing his illustrious career as an actor.
A Commitment to Nurturing New Talent

I aim to promote such talent and aspire to produce four to five films annually to bring more of these stories to life," he remarked.

During the interaction, Chief Justice Chandrachud expressed curiosity about the inspiration behind the film ‘Laapataa Ladies’. Kiran Rao provided insights into the film's origins, revealing that the journey began with an original script by Biplab Goswami. Aamir discovered the script during the 2020 Screenwriters Association Competition and was immediately drawn to its potential. Kiran added, "We infused more humor into the dramatic narrative," indicating their collaborative effort to shape the film into a unique and engaging story.
Despite suggestions to release the film directly on an OTT platform, Aamir and Kiran decided to pursue a theatrical release. Kiran remarked, "The film received tremendous love from the audience, and I’m pleased we chose to showcase it on the big screen." This decision underscores their belief in the traditional cinematic experience and their confidence in the film's ability to connect with audiences in theatres.
