Netflix faces legal trouble over derogatory comments on Bollywood actor Madhuri Dixit

Netflix in legal trouble: For one of the episodes of its acclaimed sitcom 'The Big Bang Theory, political analyst Mithun Vijay Kumar filed Netflix with a legal notice. In addition to describing the show as disrespectful and defamatory, Kumar demanded that it be removed from the streaming app.

Political analyst Mithun Vijay Kumar requests that the streaming giant remove the season 2 premiere episode in which Raj Koothrapalli and Sheldon Cooper, played by Jim Parsons and Kunal Nayyar, compare Aishwarya Rai and Madhuri Dixit.

Sheldon Cooper refers to Aishwarya Rai as the Madhuri Dixit of the impoverished in the important scene. Raj Koothrapalli responds, "Aishwarya Rai is a goddess, by comparison, Madhuri Dixit is a leprous prostitute," in response to his comment.

Mithun Vijay Kumar has threatened to take further legal action against Netflix in relation to the scene if they don't respond or follow the instructions in the notice.

He stated in a statement that it was important to hold companies like Netflix responsible for their activities and to make sure that they were respectful of the cultural values and sentiments of the communities they served. I firmly believe that the content that streaming service providers give on their platforms should be properly curated. They have a responsibility to make sure that the content they publish does not contain anything insulting, disparaging, or defamatory. The usage of a pejorative phrase in the Netflix program Big Bang Theory caused me great distress. This word was used to disparage the celebrated actress Madhuri Dixit, and it was not only harsh and disrespectful but also demonstrated a lack of respect for her.

Madhuri Dixit has not yet responded to the complaint brought up in relation to the Big Bang Theory episode against Netflix. The show premiered in 2007, continued for 12 successful seasons, and finally ended in 2019.
