As Aditya Karikalan and Nandini, respectively, Chiyaan Vikram and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan steal the spotlight, and their face-off sequence electrified the screen. In their characters, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, and the other "PS 2" actors all appear strong and well-groomed thanks to Mani Ratnam's masterful character development.

As always, AR Rahman's music excels, and his background soundtrack gives viewers goosebumps in a number of instances. Aishwarya Rai's Nandini persona, which the stunning actress portrays so expertly, is another role fans would like to see her in.

Mixed reviews were given to Ponniyin Selvan 1. However, the movie did extremely well at the box office, grossing over Rs 480 crore worldwide.

After Iruvar, Ravan, Guru, and Ponniyin Selvan 1, Ponniyin Selvan 2 is Mani Ratnam and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's fifth collaborative project.

On April 28, the period drama released in theatres all around the world in a variety of languages.
