Sonam Bajwa Shocking Revelations about facing discrimination for her Skin Color, Nepotism in Punjabi Industry and Auditioning for 'Happy New Year'

Punjabi superstar actress Sonam Bajwa has been making headlines in the media and social media for a few weeks now. She has been on a promotion spree for her latest movie "Godday Godday Chaa." In recent interviews, she has revealed some details about her struggles in the film industry and her experiences with Colorism.

During an interview with Siddhartha Kanan, Sonam candidly revealed that during her childhood, she was subjected to teasing due to the color of her skin. As a Punjabi, she wasn't fair-skinned, which resulted in some of her relatives not inviting her to their homes. She never got the chance to see the inside of their homes during her formative years. However, when she achieved success in her career, those same relatives began inviting her over frequently. Sadly, she lost some relationships and respect along the way. In the end, she concluded that it's a fact of life that successful people are respected both in their careers and in society.

Colorism is a prevalent issue in the film industry, especially in India. Many actresses have spoken out about the discrimination they faced because of their skin color. Despite the success and popularity of Sonam Bajwa, it seems that she too faced similar struggles.

Sonam goes on to say, "Therefore, yes. I have been sidelined by people, and that too at an age when you don't comprehend why they're doing it. In the industry, I was sidelined and given importance to bigger and more successful celebrities. To be honest, it didn't impact me much because I had witnessed a lot of unpleasant things. I have also experienced that makers would drop me from a film without even informing me. Thus, I have gone through such times, but it doesn't affect me much."

It's not just colorism that Sonam has spoken about. During a recent interview, she revealed that she had auditioned for the lead role in the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Happy New Year, which eventually went to Deepika Padukone. Sonam mentioned that she had gone for the audition with her mother.

Sonam Bajwa recounted that during her early days in the film industry, she auditioned for the lead role in Shah Rukh Khan's Happy New Year, but didn't have a car at that time. Her mother was visiting for a few days, and it was raining heavily. The audition scene required her to perform a dance on "Chikni Chameli," and she got an outfit ready for the dance. However, the clothes she was wearing were also the ones she was supposed to do the scene in.

Sonam has made a name for herself with her hardwork and talent. However, it's clear that her success has come with its own set of struggles and hardships.  Sonam Bajwa's revelations about her experiences with colorism and struggles in the film industry shed light on the challenges faced by actresses in India. Despite the progress that has been made, there is still much work to be done to create a more inclusive and equitable film industry.
