The trapped workers had endured 17 days of tension after a section of the tunnel collapsed on November 12, blocking their exit between 205 and 260 meters from the Silkyara side. The rescue mission became a race against time to free the workers who were stuck beyond the 260-meter mark.
The rescued workers, draped in orange marigold flower garlands, were welcomed by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Union Minister VK Singh.
