BREAKING: Government Bans 18 OTT Platforms for Indecent Material, Full List Inside!

In a recent development, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has taken a stringent stance against the dissemination of lewd and indecent material by 18 Over-The-Top (OTT) platforms. This decisive action comes after repeated warnings to the platforms to curb the circulation of such content. Furthermore, the government has announced the blocking of 19 websites, 10 applications, and 57 social media accounts associated with these platforms across the nation. The ministry's press release confirms the ban on 18 OTT platforms along with the aforementioned online entities, citing violations of the Information Technology Act, the Indian Penal Code, and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.

Government Cracks Down on Obscene Content: 18 OTT Platforms Banned!

Union Minister Anurag Thakur underscored the significance of platforms refraining from promoting obscenity, vulgarity, and misconduct under the guise of 'creative expression'. This statement elucidates the government's commitment to upholding moral standards and safeguarding societal values in the digital realm.

The decision to enforce these bans aligns with the provisions of the Information Technology Act, 2000. It follows meticulous consultations with domain experts from various ministries, departments of the Indian government, as well as experts in media and entertainment, women's rights, and child rights.

18 OTT Platforms Barred for Spreading Obscenity!

The banned OTT platforms include Dreams Films, Voovi, Yessma, Uncut Adda, Tri Flicks, X Prime, Neon X VIP, MoodX, Besharams, Hunters, Rabbit, Xtramood, Nuefliks, Mojflix, Hot Shots VIP, Fugi, and Chikooflix. These platforms have been found culpable of disseminating content that violates legal statutes and societal norms.

 The central government's decision to enforce this ban on 18 OTT platforms underscores its commitment to combating the proliferation of obscene and indecent content in the digital space. Prior warnings have been issued to these platforms, and the ban is a measure to ensure compliance with established regulations.
