Undoubtedly, Sikhs are brave and generous. They are always ready to extend their help in natural disaster or in other emergency situations. From serving food for free to providing shelters to people in need, Sikhs have won many hearts on numerous occasions.

Here in the article we are listing 10 such examples where Sikh community helped people in a time of crisis:

Helped stranded Mumbaikars during the 2015 flood

In June 2015, thousands of Mumbaikars were stranded at different stations as the local train services were disrupted due to heavy rains in Mumbai. To help them out, various Sikh organizations, including the Khalsa Aid, came out to help them by providing them free food on platforms.

Following their efforts, the Sikh people involved in the operation received much applause from across the globe.

Horrific earthquake in Nepal

Nepal was struck by an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 in 2015 in which over thousands died and several became homeless. During that time, Sikh people again showed their generosity by providing them food packets.

Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) and Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) provided over twenty five thousands food packets every day to Nepal earthquake victims. They took the help from Indian Air Force to send these food packets.

Sikh cab driver provided free rides

Following the Manchester terrorist attack in 2017, Sikh community again came forward to extend their help to the affected. A Sikh cab driver received much applause for giving free rides to the victims.

Free Langar, Shelter To Manchester Attack Victims

Gurudwaras in Manchester provided free food and shelter to everyone.

So horrifically sad what happened in Manchester. Thinking of all who were affected. Targeting kids like that is beyond understanding.

Paris Terror Attack

During the Paris terror attacks in 2015, the Sikh community provided free cab rides and food to the locals. Besides, they also organised blood donation camps to help the victims.

Gurudwaras provided shelter to those who was in need during the time of disaster.

Chennai Floods

During the floods in Chennai in 2015, Khalsa Aid came forward to rescue the distressed and provided the emergency flood relief at the time of need. More than 500 people were died over 1.8 million people were displaced in the flood.

Harman Singh saved life of 5-year-old in New Zealand

Harman Singh broke the religious protocol by removing his turban in public to save a life of 5-year-old child in New Zealand. The 5-year-old was on his way to school when he was hit by a speeding car. Without thinking much, Harman Singh used his turban as a band aid to stop bleeding from boy’s head.

Feed refugees from Syria and Iraq

Members of Khalsa Aid again came to the picture by providing help the Syrian refugees in Serbia. The provided them food, medicines and all other basic daily necessities.

Pulwama attack

Earlier this year, 40 CRPF soldiers lost their lives in a deadly terror attack in Pulwama. In such a situation Kashmiri students were being forced to leave their colleges and return home. Sikh help community, Khalsa Aid came to rescue; transported students from Dehradun to Chandigarh and provided food to them.

Satnam Singh saved a man from drowning

Satnam Singh from Ludhiana should the courage after he used his turban to save a life of a man who was drowning.

Kerala Floods

A group of Sikh volunteers from Khalsa Aid International came to the aid of victims of Kerala Floods. They served food to the flood victims. Besides, they also cleaned churches and temples.
