5 Times When Sikh Community Proved That Humanity Still Exists

Sikhs have stood up every time when the world needed a little more humanity. The community reminds us every time that a bit of compassion and kindness is still there in the world. Sikh support community like ‘Khalsa Aid’ has always came forward to give relief to the mankind for any disaster or conflict.

These are 5 times when Sikh community made the world a better place again!

Chennai Floods

Chennai was flooded in November 2015 due to heavy rainfall. More than 500 people died over 1.8 million people were displaced in the flood. Khalsa Aid came forward to rescue the distressed and provided the emergency flood relief at the time of need.

Besides, many other communities rose to occasion and set-up langar for those in need.

Kerala floods

During the time of need, Khalsa Aid provided meals to more than 13,000 people twice a day from a community kitchen in Kerala. While several other charity organizations came forward, the Sikh community delivered food to various relief centers across the region.

Nepal Earthquake

The Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee sent about twenty five thousand packets to Nepal for the people who had lost their families and were left homeless after the tragic Nepal Earthquake. Besides, the volunteers of Khalsa Aid reached the ground within 36 hours and provided food and temporary shelter to the people.

Jat agitation

While many people were left stranded at the Delhi-Ambala national highway because of the road blockades during the Jat Agitations, Sikh volunteers gave 24 hour food and shelter to them.

Pulwama attack

Earlier this year, 40 CRPF soldiers lost their lives in a deadly terror attack in Pulwama. In such a situation Kashmiri students were being forced to leave their colleges and return home. Sikh help community, Khalsa Aid came to rescue; transported students from Dehradun to Chandigarh and provided food to the disputed.
