Akshay Kumar, Diljit Dosanjh’s ‘Good Newwz’ Creates New Record

Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor Khan have come together after almost a decade and hit the bull's eye in the domestic circuit with their film ‘Good Newwz’. The film starring Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani in the lead too is breaking records at the box office, and creating new ones.

The Raj Mehta directorial has minted Rs 126 Crore in the first week. The film which started on a good note saw a good rise in its collections due to the New Year holiday which has indirectly helped the film grow.

According to a report on Box Office India, 'Good Newwz' has managed to grab the 5th spot in the list of highest first-week collections of Bollywood films which released in 2019.

With no major film this week, it's advantage #GoodNewwz for one more week... Should hit ₹ 150 cr in Weekend 2... Target ₹ 200 cr can be achieved *if* it trends well on weekdays, which, in turn, will help programming in Week 3, when #Tanhaji, #Chhapaak and #Darbar arrive.

Akshay's multi-starrer has managed to surpass the collections of Prabhas 'Saaho' and Salman's 'Dabangg 3' in the domestic circuit which released in 2019. 'Good Newwz' also exceeded Akshay's previous releases 'Mission Mangal' (Rs 115.38 crore) and 'Kesari' (Rs 97.35 crore) as well.

While it’s Raj’s debut film, the film is backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, Akshay Kumar’s Cape of Good Films and Zee Studios.
