The film achieved the record for the Most People Motion-Captured in Real-Time, with 37 performers being captured at the same time. The achievement has brought global attention to the film even before its first proper glimpse is released.
37 Performers, One Big AchievementThe record-breaking motion-capture sequence was filmed in February 2026. A total of 37 performers, ranging from a four-year-old child to a 70-year-old performer, were recorded together in the same space. Getting so many people to perform and move together while being tracked digitally was a huge technical challenge for the team.
Motion capture is a technology that records the movements of real people and turns them into digital data. Performers usually wear special suits, while cameras track their body movements. These movements can then be transferred to digital characters on screen.
92 Cameras Captured Every MoveThe scale of the Raaka sequence makes the achievement even more interesting. The team used 92 cameras to record the movements of all 37 performers at the same time. Separate cameras were also used to capture their faces.
The film team used Unreal Engine, a technology commonly associated with video games and now increasingly used in filmmaking. It allowed the makers to see digital versions of the characters moving almost in real-time. This meant the crew did not have to wait until post-production to understand how the captured movements would appear on screen.
Atlee and Allu Arjun Celebrate the MilestoneSun Pictures, the production house behind Raaka, shared the achievement on social media, calling it a “global triumph” for Indian cinema. Director Atlee and Allu Arjun were presented with the Guinness World Records certificate at a ceremony in Mumbai.
Allu Arjun described the achievement as a special and humbling moment. Atlee also expressed his happiness, recalling how people often heard about Guinness World Records while growing up and never imagined that one day they would achieve one themselves.
The Mystery Behind Number 37Interestingly, the number 37 had already appeared in Raaka’s promotions before the record was officially revealed. When Sun Pictures first shared the number, fans began guessing what it could mean. Some connected it with Atlee’s September 21 birthday, while others wondered if it was a possible release-date clue.
The mystery was finally solved when the makers revealed that 37 referred to the number of performers involved in the record-breaking motion-capture sequence.
New Chapter for RaakaThe Guinness World Record was achieved in February and officially certified on September 15, 2026. Guinness World Records lists Sun TV Network Limited and V. Arunkumar, popularly known as Atlee, as the record holders.
With Allu Arjun and Deepika Padukone leading the cast, Raaka is already attracting attention for its scale and technology.
