Global Sikhs and Salman Khan join hands for 'AASHIYANA'; shelter project for Assam Flood 2026 Victims

Assam Floods 2026: Global Sikhs, along with Salman Khan, has started a new project called "AASHIYANA" to help families affected by the Assam floods. The project aims to provide safe and semi-permanent shelters to people who have lost their homes.

Helping Families in Need

The Assam floods have caused huge damage. Many families have lost everything and are living on roadsides or in open areas. Heavy rains have made life even more difficult for them. Without a proper roof, these families are facing many challenges every day.

Building Safe Shelters

As part of the second phase of the rehabilitation work, Global Sikhs and Salman Khan have begun building semi-permanent shelters. These shelters will give families a safe place to live while they rebuild their lives.

With God's grace, the first shelter has now been completed. This is the beginning of many more shelters that will be built in the coming days.

Assam Floods 2026

More than 1.3 lakh people have been affected by the floods in Assam this year, and over 87 people have lost their lives as of August 4. What makes this year's floods unusual is that Assam received about 30% less rainfall than normal until the end of July. Even though 2026 was known around the world for extreme heat due to the Godzilla El Niño, Assam still faced severe floods. This shows that floods in Assam are no longer caused only by heavy rainfall. There are other factors that are making floods more frequent and more dangerous.
