Soon after receiving his first National Film Award for his performance in Chandu Champion, the actor visited Lalbaugcha Raja in Mumbai to seek the blessings of Ganpati Bappa. In a heartfelt gesture, Kartik placed his prestigious National Award at the feet of Bappa, expressing gratitude for the special moment.

A Proud Moment for the Gwalior BoyKartik received the National Film Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role from President Droupadi Murmu at a ceremony held in Ekta Nagar, Kevadia, Gujarat, on Tuesday, September 22. The ceremony was historic as it marked the first time the National Film Awards were presented outside New Delhi.
Kartik later shared a photograph with his parents on his Instagram Story, calling them “my world” and describing the occasion as the “biggest moment” of his life. For an actor who began his journey from Gwalior with dreams of making it in Bollywood, the recognition holds a special place.
An Emotional Note After the Big WinFollowing the ceremony, Kartik shared a video capturing the historic moment and opened up about his emotions. Looking back at his journey, he remembered the young boy from Gwalior who dared to dream of becoming an actor despite coming from an environment where such ambitions could easily be dismissed.
He described the National Award as a dream shared by actors across the country and expressed his gratitude towards director Kabir Khan and producer Sajid Nadiadwala for trusting him with the challenging role of Murlikant Petkar. Kartik also reflected on the demanding journey behind the film, calling the result extremely sweet.
The Hard Work Behind Chandu ChampionKartik’s transformation for Chandu Champion went far beyond his appearance. To portray Petkar convincingly, he underwent extensive physical training and worked on swimming and other sporting skills required for the role.
His performance also demanded an understanding of Petkar’s changing physicality. Kartik had to portray different stages of the athlete’s life, including his military service, sporting career and the period following his injury. The role therefore depended heavily on body language, movement and physical expression.
New Chapter in Kartik’s CareerThe National Award arrives at an important stage in Kartik Aaryan’s career. His recent film, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, co-starring Ananya Panday, has premiered on Prime Video. He is also set to appear in an upcoming romantic drama directed by Anurag Basu alongside Sreeleela.
