Who is Ishita Shukla? Meet Ravi Kishan’s daughter who chose the Defence Forces over Bollywood

Ishita Shukla is the daughter of actor and politician Ravi Kishan, but she has chosen a career path very different from her father and sister. Instead of entering the film industry, Ishita decided to serve the country and joined the defence forces under the Agnipath scheme in 2023. Her journey has attracted attention because of her dedication, discipline and strong interest in military service.

Who Is Ishita Shukla?

Ishita Shukla was born on February 10 in Barain, in Uttar Pradesh’s Jaunpur district. She is the daughter of Ravi Kishan Shukla and Preeti Shukla. She studied at Rajdhani College, University of Delhi.

Although she belongs to a family associated with the entertainment industry, Ishita developed an interest in the armed forces at a young age. Her journey also included training through the National Cadet Corps (NCC), which helped her gain experience in discipline and military activities.

Before joining the defence forces, Ishita was an NCC cadet with the 7 Girls Battalion of the Delhi Directorate. She also took part in preparations for the Republic Day Parade.

Her training reportedly included working in difficult winter conditions as she prepared for the parade at Kartavya Path. Her commitment during this period made her father extremely proud.

Ravi Kishan had shared his happiness about his daughter’s achievements on social media and described her as his “brave daughter”. He also spoke about her dream of serving the nation and the hard work she had put into achieving it.

When Did Ishita Join the Defence Forces?

In 2023, Ishita joined the defence forces under the Agnipath scheme. Reports at the time described her as a Mahila Agniveer.

Her decision became notable because she did not follow the career path associated with her family. While Ravi Kishan is known for his work in films and politics, and her sister Riva Kishan has pursued acting, Ishita chose a career focused on national service.

R Madhavan’s Connection With Ishita’s Story

Ishita’s journey also has an interesting connection with actor R Madhavan. The actor had been involved with the NCC during his college years and had even considered a career in the military.

Madhavan reportedly received training with the British Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force during an NCC trip to England. However, he missed the required age limit for a military programme by six months.

His interest in Ishita’s story is therefore significant. While Madhavan eventually became an actor, Ishita has taken her military ambition forward, creating a unique story of her own beyond the world of cinema.
