Ranveer Singh visits Chamundeshwari temple: Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh recently visited the famous Chamundeshwari Temple in Mysuru. The visit was reportedly kept private and happened after directions from the Karnataka High Court in connection with the Kantara mimicry controversy.

The issue began after Ranveer recreated a scene inspired by Kantara during a public event. Many people from the Kannadiga community felt that the act hurt religious and cultural sentiments. The controversy led to heavy criticism online and also resulted in legal action. Now, after months of debate and court proceedings, the matter is close to being resolved.

What was the Kantara Controversy?

The incident took place during the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa. While speaking about Kantara Chapter 1, Ranveer Singh praised actor and filmmaker Rishab Shetty for his powerful performance in the film.

However, during the event, Ranveer recreated a scene connected to the divine character shown in Kantara. He also reportedly described the figure as a “female ghost,” which upset many viewers and members of the Kannadiga community. Critics argued that the character represented a sacred cultural and spiritual tradition, not a ghostly figure. The backlash quickly spread across social media, with many demanding an apology from the actor.

Ranveer Singh’s Apology

Following the criticism in December 2025, Ranveer Singh shared a public apology on Instagram. He clarified that he never intended to disrespect any culture or religious belief.

In his statement, he explained that he only wanted to appreciate Rishab Shetty’s acting skills and the intensity of the performance in Kantara. He also said he deeply respects every culture and tradition in India and sincerely apologised to anyone whose feelings were hurt.

Despite the apology, the issue continued to remain in public discussion, and the matter eventually reached the Karnataka High Court.

Court Proceedings and Temple Visit

During the court hearings, Justice M. Nagaprasanna reviewed the case and considered Ranveer Singh’s apology. According to reports, the actor later submitted an updated affidavit offering an unconditional apology. Ranveer had also promised to visit the Chamundeshwari Temple in Mysuru as a gesture of respect. His recent temple visit is believed to be part of fulfilling that promise. The court reportedly viewed this step as an important sign of sincerity. With the updated affidavit and the temple visit completed, the case is now expected to be dismissed soon.

Another Challenge: Don 3 Dispute

At the same time, Ranveer Singh is also dealing with another controversy related to his exit from Don 3. Reports suggest that the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has raised concerns over financial losses caused by his departure from the film.
